spriteFive schools from the Greater Accra Region will be present at the next edition of the Sprite Ball Championship due to be held next year from January 4-6 at the El Wak Stadium.
St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, Sacred Heart Senior High School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) have qualified to the national championship boys division.
In the girl’s division, Accra Wesley Girls High School and West Africa Senior High School will represent the region at the main competition.
Reports emerged early in the week following the completion of qualifiers over the weekend of Sacred Heart’s female side’s qualification to the main championship.
However, checks by Basketballghana.com from the Regional Physical Education Coordinator’s office has confirmed Sacred Heart is not part of the five successful schools at the recent qualifiers.
Missing the cut isn’t the end of the road for schools in Sacred Heart’s position as initiatives from organizers Rite Sports Limited are underway to provide a life line to participation in next year’s tournament.
Big weights PRESEC-Legon and Achimota School also missed out on securing direct qualification to Sprite Ball.
