Mfantsipim(red) lost the opening game of the Championship.
The 2018 edition of the Sprite Ball Championship has gotten off to an exhilarating start at the El Wak Stadium in Accra with an entertaining game.

Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) stunned Mfantsipim School 45-14 in the opening game of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball competition.

Record winners of the competition, Mfantsipim strolled to the competition on the back of winning the Central Region qualifiers and as overwhelming favorites to win the maiden game in the boys division.

However, PRESC-Osu overturned the tables by getting off to a lightning quick start courtesy a 16-0 lead close to the end of the first half.

Mfantsipim got on the board courtesy Center Kuuku Baidoo-Mensah’s conversions from the free throw line; teammate and lead Point Guard Samuel Appiah was not so efficient from the charity stripe missing multiple shots.

PRESEC-Osu on the other hand played out a balanced game dominating rebounds and scoring from different spots on the court.

Keta Senior High Technical School and Takoradi Technical Institute play next in Group A.
