UPSA exited the Mini GUSA without any wins.
ATU in action against UENR (white) in the third place game.
This year’s Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games bended a fortnight ago with University of Ghana (UG) winning gold in the male basketball event.

University of Cape-Coast (UCC) and University of Education-Winneba (UEW) placed second and third respectively in the competition held at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.

The striking feature in the aftermath of the event has to do with the abysmal performance of most teams in the tertiary sect.

The likes of University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), UDS, University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) and University of Professional Studies (UPSA) failed to shine in the competition leading to an easy route to the podium for UEW, UCC and UG.

UG’s win being its third straight GUSA related gold medal coupled with the poor performance of opposing teams lower the chances of representatives from the sect in the upcoming Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Championship.

The competition which features teams from the technical and private university sects has a larger pool of participating teams and is widely viewed as tougher than GUSA.
