All Nations celebrate
KTU (black) piped All Nations

All Nations University College has successfully defended its Eastern Region Zonal title to qualify to the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarterfinals.

The team topped the zone in last year’s competition and has repeated the feat by clinching the zone by virtue of holding a superior goal difference.

With Presbyterian University College missing the competition entirely, only three teams competed for the sole qualification spot.

All Nations, Ho Technical University and Koforidua Technical University had the same record with each team registering a win and a loss.

Three teams were tied on four points at the end of the competition and goal difference had to be used to determine the winner.

All Nations clinched a 13 point win over Ho Technical after losing 31-33 to Koforidua Technical in the opening game.

The team lost all games at the quarterfinal stage at last year’s championship but team members have promised to perform better in the upcoming games.

The competition continues on March 9 in Takoradi.
