After a wonderful run in recent weeks, Barracks Scorpions and Sunyani Technical University (STU) have had their wings clipped in the past round of the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League.

Scorpions scored Week 9’s biggest result by clinching a 39-36 win over league leaders Suncity Braves but in Week 10 played at the Eubett Court in Sunyani on Sunday, Barracks got humbled.

University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) trounced Scorpions 68-23 in the opening game of the round.

Defending champions UENR had three players score in double digits with Elivid Akwei registering a 20 point, 10 rebound double double; Edem Agbagbo and Nii Nartey scored 19 and 12 points respectively.

STU has secured passage to the national stage of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship but the team got heat checked this past weekend.

Desert Rabbits delivered a 40-32 win over STU to clinch its eight win of the season while condemning STU to its seventh loss.

Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG Saints) lost 28-57 to LIR Royals while Suncity Braves earned a walk over win since West Siders failed to show up for the game.
