Central University Male Basketball Team Captain Sydney Larbie has stated his team’s absence in the ongoing PUSAG is as a result of “setbacks from administration”.

Central University was expected to compete in the 2018 Private Universities Sports Association Games taking place at Paa Joe Stadium in Kumasi.

The institution’s basketball team was expected to contend strongly for the title which is held by Marshalls University College.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com in an exclusive interview, Larbie stated drawbacks from an administrative standpoint were behind the withdrawal.

“Unfortunately Central couldn’t represent this year. A few setbacks from the administration so we couldn’t participate. Not just basketball, all sports” he said.

Central University recently competed in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship but exited at the preliminary stage.

The team clinched two wins in three games but a 21-52 loss to defending UPAC Champions University of Ghana derailed its qualification chances.

After impressing in UPAC, Larbie’s team was primed for a big campaign in Kumasi which ends on Friday, April 6.
