West African nation Senegal could be the new host of the NBA Africa Game in the near future following it’s unveiling of a plush arena.

The edifice named Dakar Arena, will hold 15,000 fans with state of the art playing, lighting and neatly seated facilities among other attractive features.

The arena can host several events in other sports disciplines like boxing, tennis and wrestling since facilities for the abovementioned sports are housed in the arena.

Over the past weekend, South Africa held its third straight NBA Africa Game which had Team World beat Team Africa 96-92 in a game featuring NBA players including those of African heritage.

The exhibition game which started in 2015 has been held in South Africa and the timing of Dakar Arena’s unveiling gives organizers the chance to change location for future editions.

This possibility could become reality given NBA Director for Africa Amadou Fall is Senegalese and a move away from South Africa improves the game’s profile and appeal.

Senegal could be the host of future African Championship (AfroBasket) editions.
