Ghana’s Female Basketball Team will be in action in the 2018 FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup in Lome, Togo later today as the female division commences.

The competition tipped off on Friday, November 9 with games in the Men’s Division taking place in Pool A and Pool C.

Ghana’s Male side failed to qualify to the continental Championship but the female side did qualify and has been grouped alongside Uganda and Cape-Verde.

The Female side is dominated by members of Ghana Police Service team that won the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division including Balkisu Saleem and Zenabu Mohammed.

Uganda is the top ranked nation in the women’s division with West African nation Mali as defending champions. One team progresses from each of the four groups to the next round of the competition.

The second edition of the tournament ends on Sunday, November 11; earlier on Friday, West African nations Mali and Nigeria sealed progress to the next round.

Mali beat Egypt 14-13 and Benin 15-6 in Pool A and Nigeria beat Nigeria 22-5 and Cape-Verde 17-16.
