The Tema Team for the Africa Basketball Festival All Star Game against the Accra select side has been released with a host of notable absentees.
While expected names like Dennis Dugbennu, Emmanuel Wolff and Mubarak Alhassan made the list, other notable names missed out on selection to the team.
Players from the Tema Community Basketball League made the list; the All Star game takes place on December 24 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Here is a list of high profile absentees in the Tema All Star Team:
Omari is the reigning Most Valuable Player of the League after an exceptional run in the 2018 Playoffs with Tema Heat; Omari moved to Spintex Knights for the 2019 season.
He hasn’t set the league on fir this season but the silky Guard has been good enough to deserve a spot on the team.
The man nicknamed “Arrow” for his dead shooting skill was surprisingly left out of the team; Pobi-Siaw has been key to league debutant Spintex Knights run to third place in the 12 team league.
Backcourt mate Kent Fosu made the list but Kwami missed out on the All Star Team despite being a consistent three point shooting threat since helping Tema Community 4 clinch the 2017 title.
Knights have three players in the Tema All Star Team but Spintex should have had five players selected as Ocquaye and Pobi-Siaw missed out. Ocquaye has the length, skill and toughness to play Small Forward, Power Forward and Center. His versatility is an immense asset to have in any team.
The veteran Power Forward still bulldozes his way to the rim and remains a threat away from the basket who consistently scores jump shots and three point shots.
Afrifa is an energetic and hardworking Forward whose work largely goes unnoticed playing alongside flashy Guards Kofi Attafuah, Kwame Attafuah and Jeffrey Djimate for Tema Community 2.
