St. John’s School, Sekondi has clinched an important win in the Western Regional qualifiers for the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship. St. John’s beat Fijai Senior High School 26-5.
Host of the ongoing qualifiers started off slowly as the team led 4-0 at the end of the first half but found its scoring touch in the second half.
Fijai got on the score sheet with a three point shot but a 12-0 run proved crucial as St. John’s halted the momentum of Fijai and scored at will from fast break opportunities and three point range.
St. John’s is in a strong position to qualify to another Sprite Ball Championship as a representative of the Western Region. The team aims to clinch of two spots available.
In the Girl’s Division, Shama Senior High School (SHASS) BEAT Badu Bonsoe Senior High School 6-2 to maintain its fine run in the qualifiers. SHASS beat Half Assini 20-0 in an earlier game.
Sprite Ball is Ghana’s biggest High School basketball tournament and is sponsored by the Coca Cola Company.
