At the second try, Tema Youth Basketball Club clinched a title on the international stage following its success over the weekend in Togo.

The team emerged winners of the West Coast Basketball Challenge in Lome, Togo after recording a 65-60 win over Dyto from Togo.

Team stayed unbeaten in the two day tournament that had two teams from the host nation and one team from Benin compete for honours.

Destiny from Benin lost 59-85 to Tema while Togolese side Swallows lost 52-61 to Tema; the win in the final was Tema’s second in the competition over Dyto following a 55-50 win for Tema in the opening game.

This is the team’s second appearance on the international stage after competing at the Temple Jam in Lagos, Nigeria earlier this month.

Coach Emmanuel “Rubberman” Quaye’s team returned to Ghana late on Sunday, December 22 to prepare for the All Star Game at the Africa Basketball Festival.

Several members of the team including Kwame Boamah Djan have been selected to represent Tema in the All Star Game on Tuesday, December 24 at the Bukom Arena.
