The 2019 Tema Community Basketball League playoffs are due to commence this weekend at the Tema’s Community 4 Court.

December 29 marks the start of the league’s postseason with all eight qualified teams set to be action; Nungua Coldstore is the reigning league champion.

In the lead up to the weekend games, members from the league represented Ghana’s main Harbour City-Tema- in the Africa Basketball Festival earlier this week at the Bukom Arena.

Team Tema won three of four events at the Festival with representatives winning the Ladies Free Throw Shooting Contest, Slam Dunk Contest and Three Point Shooting Contest.

However, Tema lost 55-56 in the All Star Game against Accra in overtime despite Tema taking a 29-22 first half lead. A late rally from Accra Forward James Amotoe got his side back in the game.

Tema All Star Team Captain Kwame Boamah Djan is expected to play for Coldstore in Nungua’s matchup against Sakumono Titans. Teammates Emmanuel Wolff, Dennis Dugbennu and Kofi Elias played in the All Star Game.

Jeffrey Djimate, Kent Fosu and Mubarak Alhassan will compete for Tema Community 2, Tema Community 4 and Tema Heat in the playoffs respectively.
