Emmanuel Quaye’s absence felt in Community 4 Playoff loss

Tema Community 4 Basketball Club competed but lost 37-48 to Spintex Knights in Game One of the Tema Community Basketball League.

The loss was recorded this past weekend in the semifinals of the playoffs taking at Community 4’s Court in Ghana’s Harbour City.

The 2017 League Champions missed out on a win largely due to poor decision making at crucial moments in the final quarter.

C4 trailed 7-11, 15-20 and 27-33 at the end of the first, second and third quarters respectively but turnovers and blown defensive assignments cost the team dearly as Knights got enough points from free throws to clinch the win.

Aside three point shots not falling, the absence of veteran Coach Emmanuel “Rubberman” Quaye in the technical area of C4 is a major reason for the loss.

Coach Quaye played a key role in leading C4 to clinch the second seed in the regular season; Game 2 is on Sunday, January 26 at the same venue and is a must win for Community 4.
