Two time Olympic Women’s Basketball Gold Medal winner Angel McCoughtry has expressed her desire to see a WNBA game hosted in Africa.
The veteran Forward of Las Vegas Aces made this known in an interview with American news outlet Undefeated where she touched on issues on race and politics in the United States of America.
McCoughtry visited a handful of African countries including Ghana and Senegal and was impressed by the level of interest in basketball.
The former Atlanta Dream player specifically mentioned Senegal as the would be host of the game involving McCoughtry’s Aces and Los Angeles Sparks in a couple of years.
“I’m thinking two years, I want to try to get it done by 2022. I talked to Cathy [WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert] about it, our president, and I hope they can really get it done… I think because people know Candace Parker everywhere – I’ve gone to Ghana, South Africa, they all know Candace Parker. So I think a Las Vegas Aces versus Los Angeles Sparks would be great” she said.
