Reformers v Braves (Green) in an ABL league game.

Basketballghana.com gathers the Accra Basketball League (ABL) will take place in the coming months with a specific date yet to be confirmed.

The league has been on a longer than usual break due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the subsequent ban on sports effected in 2020 in Ghana at the height of the pandemic.

However, a year after the ban was placed on engagement in contact sports like basketball, strict measures connected to the ban have eased as the West African nation progresses towards “normalcy”.

The 2020 League season had a handful of fixtures in the early rounds played out before the pandemic forced the capital and other towns into a lockdown.

Starting the league is of immense importance as the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers involving league clubs of nations in zones across Africa starts in October this year.

The ABL Men’s Division I title winners act as de facto representatives for Ghana in the qualifiers; Braves of Customs competed in the qualifiers for BAL’s inaugural edition that ended recently.
