Basketballghana.com can confirm the draw for the 2022 FIBA Intercontinental Cup has taken place in Giza in the host country of the upcoming tournament, Egypt.

The draw was conducted to determine the fate of the four participating teams in the competition including Egypt’s Zamalek who won the inaugural edition of the Basketball Africa League.

Zamalek won the NBA-FIBA title at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda thanks to a 76-63 win over Tunisia’s US Monastir to qualify to the world tournament.

The African Champions is set to take on European Basketball Champions League winners San Pablo Burgos; San Pablo doubles as the defending Intercontinental Cup Champion.

NBA Gatorade League Winners Lakeland Magic have been drawn to play South American Champions Flamengo in the other semifinal. The winners face off to determine the winner of the 2022 edition.

All games are to be held at the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall in Egypt’s capital, Cairo from February 11 to February 13. Egypt’s Basketball Federation Head Magdy Abou Frekha and Egypt Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy were present at the draw.
