Blue Crest College coach Kofi Agyemang Kwarteng has reiterated he is “surprised” by his team’s wonderful showing in Zone F qualifiers for the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The head trainer was full of praise for his team following what he described as “respectable losses” to Accra Polytechnic and Valley View University before beating Zenith University College 19-18 in the institution’s maiden appearance in the Championship.

The former Guard said, “First of all let me extend my profound gratitude and appreciation to my boys. The players did tremendously well and am lost for words. I actually admire them so much right now. I can’t explain how much I feel but the guys have surprised me so much”.

He also heaped massive praise on Emmanuel Kofi Otu, Nelson Hiram, Cecil Arthur and Godwin Sham for their outstanding play in the competition.

Blue Crest lost narrowly on both occasions to Valley View (24-27) and Accra Polytechnic (23-27). Blue Crest surprised many fans who thronged Accra Polytechnic’s new basketball court by pushing the host team to the brink of ending its undefeated home run.

The team placed third behind Valley View University and Accra Polytechnic who topped the zone and will play in the last eight at the University of Ghana on April 14.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, Fanyogo and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
