Holy Family Captain James Pappoe has hinged his side’s maiden win of the season on “playing more like a team” after beating Air Force 56-53 in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division over the weekend.

The win was Family’s first in six games played in the season and ended the team’s abysmal streak of losing five consecutive games.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com following the enthralling game which almost went into overtime, Pappoe was excited with the win.

“We spoke about patience, we spoke about tolerance and endurance so I am sure that’s all that paid, we just played a little more like a team” he said.

He also noted the team’s inability to win games earlier in the season was down to lack of training due to members location in distant areas including he, Pappoe, who moves from Takoradi to Accra on game days.

Holy Family does boast of a stellar cast of individual talents like Franklin Arhin, Adams Zocli, Ralphael Buchag and Eric Afful but the team’s lack of chemistry proved a major hindrance as they slumped to five straight losses.
However, the win was not enough to move Family up the standings; the team sits rock bottom in the standings with seven points.
